Programming via program button

For accessory decoder a program button is often used in addition to programming via configuration variables.

 

With using the program button, a Qdecoder can be programmed quickly and without writing of configuration variables. This method is particularly useful if you want to program a already build in decoder to a new address:

  • Connect the decoder to the power supply and the track output.
  • Then switch on your central controller.
  • Select the accessory address that you want to set as the first accessory address of the decoder.
    With a program button, the turnout Wei1 of the Z1-8 can be programmed to one of the accessory addresses 1, 5, 9 and so on. The turnouts Wei2 to Wei4 will be assigned automatically with the following accessory addresses.
  • Select the desired operation mode (continuous or impulse mode).
    Select the required duration of the switching pulses. 250 ms is sufficient for most turnouts.
  • Press the button on the decoder and keep it pressed for one second, until the LED is lit permanently. Now release the button. The LED stays on as the decoder changes from normal operation mode into the 'programming mode.
  • The programming mode can be left with another pressing of the program button.
  • Send the switching command for the programming with your controller.
    The first received accessory command defines the accessory addresses, the number of controllable signal aspects for each accessory addresses, the duration of the switching impulse as well as the fade in and fade out times.
  • The programming is finished. The setup is successful once the LED turns off. The decoder is now in normal operation mode again

The first accessory address that can be set via the program button is by 1 larger than an address that can be divided by 4, the other addresses follow without a gap. The first address can therefore be 1, 5, 9, ...

If a switching command for the addresses 5 to 8 is received, the first accessory address of the decoder is address 5, in case of the addresses 9 to 12 the address 9, and so on.

Of course, this can be tailored as usual to specific requirements after programming via the program button.

Accessory decoder Z1-8N and Z1-8M

Decoder of the basic class Z1-8N and Z1-8M can only be configured via the program button. Programming via CV is not possible. The following table shows the programming possibilities:
